Sometimes you have to laugh at what animals do, if you're capable of laughing after they do it, that is. One afternoon, while walking out to pasture to retrieve my spoiled angus heifer with some treats, my nephew's horse followed along, of course expecting to get a treat of two for himself. I opened a gate to let my heifer through but she wouldn't pass because the horse was slobbering on me and in her way. I threw up my arms and said Get away to the horse. He threw up his back legs and planted a hoof right on my sternum. I saw it coming but it was so fast I had little time to prepare. As i fell to one knee (in thorough anticipation of passing out), I threw one of the treats and the now-fleeing horse and inquired, Is that all you got?!
